Grant opportunities are available all over the internet. You can find website after website with listings of grants that you can apply for and some offer software to help you succeed with your application.

What isn’t mentioned as often, about online grant directories, is that there is a huge amount of competition for the grants shown on these pages. There is another option though, that offers less competition for the grants available and that is local grants in your area.

Many cities and counties offer grants for local people to apply for and while these grants may have more rigid requirements to qualify, there is much less competition. One thing about local grants is that they may look a little harder at your business plan and require more detailed information from you.

You may even have to go through an interview process where they can try to get a feel for you and how you feel about the project you are trying to get the grant for. The more enthusiastic you are, the more likely you will be to get the grant.
